International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

 

Introduction to IELTS
 

 

IELTS tests the complete range of English language skills which will commonly be encountered by students when studying or training in the medium of English.

An IELTS exam is comprised of 4 modules:

 
IELTS Modules (4)
Listening
 Reading
Writing
 Speaking
 

All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules.

Candidates may select one of two types of Reading and Writing Modules:

 
Academic Reading & Writing
General Reading & Writing
  Suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education studies. Suitable for candidates planning to undertake non-academic training or work experience, or for immigration purposes.
   
 
Who accepts/requires IELTS results, and where are they located?
 

IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia.
